MEDICAL DESCRIPTION OF WORMENTEL TABLET:

Wormentel tablet contains Fenbendazole (200mg) an antiparasitic agent used to treat many worm infections. It produces its action by killing the worms which is responsible for infections. 

USE OF WORMENTEL TABLET (Indication of Fenbendazole):        

It is used in the treatment of parasitic worm infections.

Parasitic infections:

This infection occurs when parasites live and reproduce in your body because parasites need living organisms to get sufficient nutrients to survive. It can spread from contaminated water, foods, and undercooked meats. It is caused by Trichomoniasis, Strongyloidiasis, Leishmaniasis, and Schistosomiasis. 

Pinworm:

It is also called threadworms. It is the common type of intestinal worm infection caused by Enterobius vermicularis. It is a contagious infection that is transmitted from contaminated hands, fingernails, bathroom surfaces, toys, clothing, drinking glasses, and towels. Symptoms include itching around the anus area, trouble sleeping, anus pain, and worms in stool. 

Roundworm:

It is a parasitic infection caused by a roundworm called Ascaris lumbricoides. This worm usually lives in our intestines and causes stomach pain, diarrhea, and fever. It is transmitted from contaminated food and water. Symptoms include fever, vomiting, wheezing, malnutrition, cough, disturbed sleep, stomach pain, and restlessness.

Whipworm:

It is a common type of large intestine worm infection caused by Trichuris trichiura. It usually develops after the ingestion of contaminated water or feces that contains whipworm parasites. Symptoms include bloody diarrhea, stomach pain, vomiting, headaches, weight loss, and inability to control feces. 

Hookworm:

This type of parasite usually affects the lungs and small intestine. It is found in contaminated feces. It is caused by parasites called Ancylostoma duodenale, and Nectar americanus. Symptoms include diarrhea, stomach pain, vomiting, fever, blood in stool, loss of appetite, and rash.

Neurocysticercosis:

It is a common parasitic infection that affects the central nervous system of humans. It is a major cause of seizures. It is also known as Taenia solium tapeworm. It usually occurs after consuming uncooked or undercooked pork food, in contaminated water with tapeworm eggs, or through unhygienic practices. Symptoms include epilepsy, stroke, headache, dizziness, movement disorders, stiff neck, nausea, vomiting and confusion. 

Hydatid:

It is a parasitic infection caused by a tapeworm called Echinococcus. This tapeworm causes cysts in your liver and other organs. It is usually transmitted from sheep and dogs. In humans, it is transmitted by drinking infected parasitic water. Symptoms include coughing, bloody stools, chest or abdominal discomfort, jaundice, skin rash, shortness of breath, weight loss, nausea, and vomiting. 

HOW THE WORMENTEL TABLET WORKS:    

Wormentel tablet contains Fenbendazole (200mg) an antiparasitic medication that produces its action by regulating the worms from absorbing glucose which helps to kill the worms responsible for infections. 

CONTRAINDICATION OF WORMENTEL TABLET:

If you are allergic to fenbendazole and its combinations, it is advisable not to consume the medicine.

HOW TO TAKE A WORMENTEL TABLET:

If you are planning to become pregnant or currently under the breastfeed 

If you are suffering from diarrhea, stomach pain, etc

DRUG INTERACTION WITH WORMENTEL TABLET

Interaction with the drugs:

A combination of albendazole and fenbendazole may increase the risk of side effects 

Fenbendazole may increase the international normalized ratio of warfarin which increases the risk of bleeding 

The use of antacids may decrease the absorption of fenbendazole 

Consuming grapefruit while taking fenbendazole may lead to the development of toxicity

OVERDOSE

Consume the medicine as per the doctor’s advice and prescribed dose and dosage. Avoid taking any extra dose of medicine than the original prescribed dose. Do not overdose for the immediate effect, which leads to undesired effects. MISSED DOSE

Take the medicine as per the prescription of a doctor.

Take only the dose and dosage prescribed by the doctor and the doctor’s advice.

Do not take the missed or forgotten dose to adjust the dose, if you missed the dose skip the missed dose and continue the regular schedule dose medicine.

Consuming the medicine two times to compensate for the missed or forgotten dose should be avoided.
