MEDICAL DESCRIPTION OF Ciprofloxacin TABLET:

The Ciprofloxacin tablet contains Ciprofloxacin (500mg) a fluoroquinolone antibiotic used to treat bacterial infections in the ear, throat, lungs, nose, skin, tonsils, and urinary tract infections. It produces its action by killing microbes that are responsible for infections. 

USE OF Ciprofloxacin TABLET(Indication of Ciprofloxacin):  

It is used in the treatment of bacterial infections like acute sinusitis, bone and joint infections, chronic bacterial prostatitis, infectious diarrhea, intra-abdominal infections, lower respiratory tract infections, pneumonia, urinary tract infections, gonococcal infections, anthrax infections, and plague. 

Ciprofloxacin TABLET BENEFITS:

Bacterial infections:

This infection usually occurs when microbes enter your body and start to multiply which damages the tissue and makes you sick. It is caused by organisms like Staphylococcus and Streptococcus. Symptoms include sweats, fever, chills, diarrhea, headache, and stomach pain.

Acute sinusitis:

It is a condition where the air-filled cavities around the nasal passages become swollen. Symptoms include congestion, headache, changes in the sense of smell, cough, bad breath, fever, ear pressure, and tiredness.

Bone and joint infections:

It is also referred to as musculoskeletal infection where the infection spreads from skin, muscles to bone. Symptoms include tiredness, fever, swelling, warmth, and joint pain.

Chronic bacterial prostatitis:

Inflammation in the prostate gland. It may take time to treat this infection. Symptoms include stomach pain, painful urination, blood in your pee, painful ejaculation, erectile dysfunction, and pain during intercourse. 

Infectious diarrhea:

It is caused by the bacteria Escherichia coli. Symptoms include blood in stool, mucus in stool, bloating, stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, and fever.

Intra-abdominal infections:

It is an infection where the microbes move from any part of the gastrointestinal tract to another area within your stomach. Symptoms include stomach pain, inflammation, fever, chest pain, change in bowel movements, diarrhea, tiredness, cough, and dehydration. 

Lower respiratory tract infections:

This infection can cause bronchitis, pneumonia, and tuberculosis. It is caused by bacteria called Streptococcus, and Staphylococcus aureus. Symptoms include dry cough, fever, headache, difficulty in breathing, chest pain, wheezing, runny nose and sore throat. 

Pneumonia:

Inflection that makes one or both lungs swollen by filling the air. Symptoms include chest pain, confusion, cough, tiredness, shortness of breath, diarrhea, vomiting, fever, and sweating.

Gonococcal infection:

Gonococcal infection is a sexually transmitted infection(STD) caused by bacteria called Neisseria gonorrhoeae. Symptoms include painful urination, increased vaginal discharge, penis pain, pelvic pain, abdominal pain, and vaginal bleeding.

Anthrax infection:

It is a serious infection caused by Bacillus anthracis. Symptoms include stomach pain, vomiting, nausea, headache loss of appetite, fever, swollen neck, bloody diarrhea, and sore throat.

Plague:

It is an infection caused by bacteria called Yersinia pestis. Symptoms include fever, tiredness, and headache.

Skin and soft tissue infection:

This is a bacterial infection that affects your skin, muscles, and connective tissue. It is caused by Staphylococcus aureus. Symptoms include inflammation, redness, warmth, pain, and draining of yellow or green pus. 

Urinary tract infections:

This is an infection that occurs in any part of the urinary system which includes the kidneys, urethra, bladder, and urethra. Symptoms include irritation while urinating, tiredness, pain in the penis, wetting the bed, and frequent urination.

The Ciprofloxacin tablet contains Ciprofloxacin (500mg) a fluoroquinolone antibiotic that produces its action by killing the microbes by preventing DNA gyrase, a bacterial enzyme that helps the bacterial cell from repairing and dividing.

CONTRAINDICATION OF Ciprofloxacin TABLET:

If you are allergic to ciprofloxacin, penicillin, and its combinations, it is advisable not to consume the medicine. It is contraindicated to use this medicine in patients who are at high risk of developing myasthenia gravis because it may worsen their condition.

DRUG INTERACTION WITH Ciprofloxacin TABLET

Interaction with the drugs:

Ciprofloxacin decreases the effect of BCG vaccine by pharmacodynamic antagonism 

Ciprofloxacin and clarithromycin increases the QTc intervals

Ciprofloxacin increases the effect of bendamustine by decreasing its metabolism 

A combination of ciprofloxacin and dexamethasone may increase the risk of tendon rupture

A combination of ciprofloxacin and dichlorphenamide decreases the level of serum potassium

OVERDOSE
