MEDICAL DESCRIPTION OF CEPHADEX CAPSULE:

The Cephadex capsule contains Cefalexin (500mg) a cephalosporin antibiotic used to treat bacterial infections in the ear, throat, lungs, nose, skin, tonsils, and urinary tract infections. It produces its action by killing microbes that are responsible for infections. 

USE OF CEPHADEX CAPSULE (Indication of Cefalexin):  

It is used in the treatment of bacterial infections like acute bacterial otitis media, tonsillitis, skin and soft tissue infections, osteomyelitis, pyelonephritis, and urinary tract infections. 

CEPHADEX CAPSULE BENEFITS:

Bacterial infections:

This infection usually occurs when microbes enter your body and start to multiply which damages the tissue and makes you sick. It is caused by organisms like Staphylococcus and Streptococcus. Symptoms include sweats, fever, chills, diarrhea, headache, and stomach pain.

Otitis media:

It is also called a middle ear infection. It is caused by Streptococcus pneumonia. Symptoms include loss of balance, ear pain, difficulty in sleeping, loss of appetite, and headache. 

Tonsillitis/Pharyngitis:

Both are throat infections that cause soreness and inflammation. It is caused by viruses, bacteria, fungi, and parasites. Symptoms include sore throat, fever, headache, joint pain, and inflamed neck in your neck.

Skin and soft tissue infection:

This is a bacterial infection that affects your skin, muscles, and connective tissue. It is caused by Staphylococcus aureus. Symptoms include inflammation, redness, warmth, pain, and draining of yellow or green pus. 

Osteomyelitis:

It is called bone infection. It is caused by Staphylococcus bacteria. Symptoms include tiredness, swelling, warmth, redness, and fever

Pyelonephritis:

Inflammation in the kidney occurs due to bacterial infections. It is caused by Staphylococcus and Enterobacter bacteria. Symptoms include pain while urinating, fever, chills, and lower back pain. 

Urinary tract infections:

This is an infection that occurs in any part of the urinary system which includes the kidneys, urethra, bladder, and urethra. Symptoms include irritation while urinating, tiredness, pain in the penis, wetting the bed, and frequent urination.

 

HOW THE CEPHADEX CAPSULE WORKS:

The Cephadex capsule contains Cefalexin (500mg) a cephalosporin antibiotic that produces its action by killing the microbes. This prevents the bacteria from forming the protecting cell wall which is required for microbes to survive. 

CONTRAINDICATION OF CEPHADEX CAPSULE:

If you are allergic to cefalexin, penicillin, and its combinations, it is advisable not to consume the medicine.

HOW TO TAKE A CEPHADEX CAPSULE:

Cefalexin gives better results when you take the medicine with food or without, take the capsule fully, and do not chew or crush the capsule. Take the capsules as per the dose prescribed by the doctor. Do not take extra doses and dosage of the medicine, it may lead to undesired and unwanted effects.

DRUG INTERACTION WITH CEPHADEX CAPSULE

Interaction with the drugs:

Cephalexin decreases the effect of BCG vaccine by pharmacodynamic antagonism 

Cephalexin increases the toxicity of amikacin by kidney toxicity and ear toxicity. 

Cephalexin increases the effect of digoxin by changing its intestinal flora

Cephalexin increases the toxicity of metformin by reducing kidney clearance 

Cephalexin increases the level of probenecid by acidic drug competition for kidney tubular clearance

OVERDOSE

Consume the medicine as per the doctor’s advice and prescribed dose and dosage. Do not take any extra dose of medicine. If you have taken the overdose/extra dose of the medicine immediately visit the doctor or nearby hospital for medical consultation.

MISSED DOSE

Consume the medicine as per the doctor’s advice and prescribed dose and dosage.do not miss or forget to take the medicine. Suppose you miss or forget to take the medicine, don’t take the extra dose of the medicine, skip the missed dose, and take the regular dose of medicine. Avoid taking the missed dose or two times of the medicine to compensate for the missed dose.

Store the medicine at 30°c at room temperature.
